Energy for electric boats

The trend continues: Almost every major boat manufacturer now offers electrically powered boats. When making a purchase decision, users are also faced with questions about charging: Where can I charge the boat? How fast will the boat charge? Can I have flexible AC charging and DC fast charging? Can I reliably charge the boat internationally?

Low-emission boating makes e-boats attractive

The advantages of electric boats are obvious: the boat runs almost silently, there are no exhaust fumes, and the overall maintenance intensity is significantly lower than with a combustion engine drive.

Charging components for AC charging and DC charging

Many boat owners want to be as flexible as possible when it comes to charging. Often there is only one power connection in the marina. In this case, AC charging should be used with PWM communication between the charging infrastructure and the boat’s charging input.

DC charging means that the batteries are charged many times faster. To achieve this, the boat must have the appropriate power electronics and be able to handle the associated PLC communication that allows the charger and battery to start, complete and stop the charging process smoothly. The innolectric On-board Charger provides this flexibility: AC charging and DC charging with only one installed component, to be used as needed and depending on availability on site.

DC fast charging in the marina

Fast charging is on the rise for electrically powered vehicles both on land and on water: If a boat is to be charged only during fast charging, the innolectric DC Charging Controller offers a compact and efficient solution to ensure safe charging according to international standards.
