Move to Mark 51°7 is getting closer

The move to the new company headquarters innoCampus is approaching in big steps for innolectric. In a few weeks, employees will already be working from the Mark 51°7 innovation quarter. After the first sod was turned in November 2021, the final work on the building is now nearing completion, so it can be assumed that the move will take place on time this summer.

Innovation Quarter Mark51°7

The new location is considered an innovation quarter and technology center and reflects the character and values of innolectric. As innovative and resource-saving as the products are that innolectric develops, as modern and environmentally friendly is the new surrounding from July on. In addition to the technical equipment of the innoCampus, such as a state-of-the-art laboratory area, particular attention was paid to the climate balance when planning the building. Among other things, the building will be geothermally heated, making it forward-looking and resource-saving when it comes to the heating and cooling network. In addition, the location offers an ideal space to create progress while remaining in exchange with other companies in the sector.

Geothermal energy provides environmentally friendly energy supply

A year ago, Stadtwerke Bochum completed the first geothermal well on Mark 51°7 at a depth of around 340 meters, reaching the old adit of the former Dannenbaum mine. The background to the drilling is one of the most sustainable energy concepts in Germany’s industrial areas. The idea is to use the mine water from the disused colliery for a combined heating and cooling supply.

The energy center, which will supply the area – and thus also the innoCampus – in the future, is scheduled to go into operation at the beginning of 2024.
